Ptychography

4D-STEM refers to the 2D raster scan of a sample by a convergent electron beam and recording 2D diffraction patterns for each scan position. Thus it combines the advantages of microscopy and diffraction techniques,  generating a 2 x 2D = 4D data set with information in both real and reciprocal space.
